"IDEAS Género", Initiative for the Evaluation of Social and Health Care for people at risk of exclusion with a gender perspective
This project, funded by the Ministry of Social Rights, Consumer Affairs and 2030 Agenda through the 0.7% tax allocation of Personal Income Tax (IRPF), aims to create a gender-sensitive and intersectional monitoring and evaluation system for the services and programmes in the fields of drug addiction and gender violence managed by the organisation.
The project, which will run from January to December 2024, will carry out various actions to support the organisation’s professionals working in these sectors, improving their evaluation capacity with an “intersectional” gender perspective (that is, one that takes into account the intersection between the influence of gender and other factors such as race, poverty, mental health, etc.). These actions include identifying evaluation needs in this field and providing gender- and diversity-sensitive evaluation tools. They also include developing networked knowledge management systems, as well as other dissemination actions and the evaluation of the initiative itself.
The project aims to involve some 100 of the organisation’s professionals working in the aforementioned sectors nationwide, as well as representatives of FSC’s various areas of social intervention in Aragon, Cantabria, Catalonia, Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla y León, La Rioja, the Community of Madrid, the Region of Murcia, the Basque Country and the Valencian Community.
This project, innovative in the field of social intervention, is part of the I.D.E.A.S Programme (Information, Diagnosis, Evaluation, Care and Follow-up) of Fundación Salud y Comunidad (FSC), an integrated, digitalised, evidence-based evaluation system to measure the effectiveness of the various services and programmes managed by the organisation in order to promote quality and continuous improvement, which began in 2021 in the field of drug addiction.
Likewise, “IDEAS Género” is aligned with the recommendations made by many international institutes and agencies such as the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE) or UN Women on gender-sensitive evaluations, as well as with the Government strategy for effective equality between women and men 2022-2025.
It should be noted that FSC has developed, and continues to develop and implement, various programmes and activities related to evaluation in different specific areas of intervention. Therefore, the central idea of this gender-sensitive evaluation initiative is to promote it in all of FSC’s areas of social intervention: alcoholism and other drug addictions, the social and labour inclusion of people at risk of exclusion, the reintegration of prisoners and former prisoners, migrants, older people, the protection of children and adolescents, and gender violence.
