Urban social inclusion residencesfor people with drug dependence (Barcelona)
Fundación Salud y Comunidad expands its range of intervention through two therapeutic flats. FSC’s first flat for people with drug dependence began operating in 1998, and a second one opened in October 2007 to meet growing demand. Both are located in the city of Barcelona, which makes it possible to take advantage of all the resources the city offers, both in terms of care and social relations.
These are open-regime resources that make the most of the opportunities offered by living together and interpersonal relationships, within a framework of supervision carried out by FSC professionals. The essential requirement for admission to the therapeutic flats is to have completed treatment in a Therapeutic Community with therapeutic discharge, or to have been referred from another outpatient treatment centre with a minimum of 4-6 months of abstinence.
Their purpose is therefore to foster the social, economic and labour integration, as well as the personal and family restructuring, of the people who attend the centre, so that they regain their ability to participate in their social environment.
In coordination with service users’ families and with the care resources in their area, over the last year we have supported 164 people in our two residences.
Among the main achievements of the last year, we would highlight our active participation in the working group on QUALITY INDICATORS FOR THERAPEUTIC COMMUNITIES AND REINTEGRATION FLATS IN CATALONIA, organised by the Institut Català d’Assistència i Serveis Socials de la Generalitat de Catalunya.
In addition, we have strengthened a working group focused on seeking employment and training options, with very positive results despite the current economic context.
