Study of resources available in Barcelonafor the care of victims of sexual violenceand related information activities

This is a study and a set of information activities carried out by Fundación Salud y Comunidad for the care of victims of sexual violence, funded by Barcelona City Council under the direction of the Councillor’s Office for Feminisms and LGTBI (Concejalía de FEMINISMOS and LGTBI).

In the city of Barcelona there are various municipal resources, specialised organisations such as ours, and women’s and feminist associations that have been working on sexual violence for years. Through the study, detailed information has been gathered on all the existing, operational resources in the city that make up the care network for sexual assault and abuse.

The methodology used in the study focuses on individual interviews with each service involved in addressing sexual violence. On-site visits to each service, institution or organisation proved key to understanding how they operate and what they do. In addition, before the report was published, a review session was organised with several professionals in the field of sexual violence, so that they could give their initial opinion on the study’s conclusions and generate debate before the drafting of the report was finalised.

The final diagnosis of the study consists of the needs identified in the comprehensive approach to sexual violence, presented in a report listing the general conclusions regarding detection and subsequent intervention (improvement actions and measures) for addressing sexual violence in the city of Barcelona.

It should be noted that, following completion of the report, a preventive campaign and dissemination of the project is being carried out through the FSC website: https://www.violenciessexuals.org/
