"Rosella" programme for women drug usersin situations of social exclusion

The “Rosella” (poppy) programme is aimed at women drug users in situations of social exclusion. It began in 2016 and is funded by the Vicepresidencia y Conselleria de Igualdad y Políticas Inclusivas of the Generalitat Valenciana, as well as by Fundación Bancaixa.

The objective is to facilitate the ACCESSIBILITY of women at risk of social exclusion to mainstream services, by providing them with the tools needed to foster their empowerment and enable changes in their exclusion process that facilitate their social inclusion.

The methodology involves an approach of comprehensive care for people with drug addiction from a bio-psycho-social perspective, with particular emphasis on the latter. Harm reduction, as an intervention strategy aimed at minimising the deterioration and risks associated with drug use and the lifestyle associated with it, without necessarily reducing or eliminating that use, constitutes the intervention model.

The programme is carried out in the city of Valencia, and in addition to the interventions mentioned above, it also offers them the support they need to make significant changes in their usual patterns of behaviour and relationships.
