Immediate Shelter Centre forvictims of gender violence in Álava
The management of the Provincial Immediate Shelter Centre, which reports to the Instituto Foral de Bienestar Social (IFBS) of Álava, involves providing psycho-socio-educational care from a gender perspective, together with social support, to women victims of gender violence who come to the centre, as well as to the dependants in their care.
It is a short-stay residential centre that immediately takes in women victims of domestic abuse for the time needed to assess their needs before referring them to the most suitable resource.
The Centre offers safe, protected accommodation for women who, having suffered gender violence, must leave their home, whether urgently or in a planned manner
The Immediate Shelter Centre (CAI) provides specialised care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, reinforcing support for women, their children and dependants through a psycho-socio-educational team that supports the victim towards independent living, with the objectives of ensuring her safety and that of the children and adolescents, breaking ties with the aggressor and establishing her personal pathway.
Both the technical and the educational team members are trained and have extensive professional experience in the fields of Social Services, Equality between Women and Men, and Gender Violence.
The staff consists of a technical team (Management, a Social Worker and a Social Educator) and an educational team made up of 5 Social Integration Workers.
