Family Meeting Point Technical Servicein Lleida

The Meeting Point Technical Service is a temporary service designed to enable visiting arrangements to be carried out between children and the parents who do not have custody of them, or with other members of the family circle who request it. It is therefore a space designed to address and prevent, in a neutral and transitional setting, the problems that arise in complying with the visiting arrangements established in cases of separation or divorce of the parents or in cases of guardianship by the Public Administration. It is owned by the Departamento de Igualdad y Feminismos de la Generalitat de Cataluña.

The fundamental objective of this service is to prevent or reduce family conflict during visits, by providing an environment that protects and upholds the rights of minors.

Over the last year the centre has handled a total of 60 cases involving 63 minors and 115 adults. Almost all of them showed a high level of conflict resulting from the parents’ separation or divorce.

It should also be noted that a change in trend has been detected in the origin of referrals to the service: previously, 49% came through the courts and 51% of cases through administrative channels. In contrast, over the last year court cases have increased by almost 10%, reaching 60%.
