"CONTIGO": Community support service for people with mental health problems(Province of Alicante)

“CONTIGO” is a comprehensive community support service for people with mental health problems who are in situations of vulnerability and psychological distress (people going through a situation that affects their psychological well-being, which does not necessarily imply a mental health diagnosis).

The service is based on professional support and care that is individualised and covers all the areas that make up the person’s life project, from a rights and gender perspective, fostering self-determination and decision-making in line with the person’s wishes.

Based on the methodology of Person-Centred Care (ACP) and Therapeutic Accompaniment (AT), CONTIGO offers the following services:

• Support with tasks related to activities of daily living, both basic and instrumental, inside and outside the home.
• Outpatient care and strengthening of community ties.
• Encouragement of vocational, work, occupational and, in the case of minors, educational tasks, as well as promotion of leisure and free-time activities.
• Support with daily planning and decision-making under the principle of Supported Decision-Making (ATM), which promotes the right to autonomy and to live independently.
• Support in crisis situations and provision of emotional support.
• Close follow-up and support in institutional relations regarding dependency.

The Service is mainly aimed at adults, but also at minors under 18, exclusively in this case by providing Personal Assistance, under the System for Autonomy and Care for Dependency (SAAD).

The professional team supporting the beneficiaries of CONTIGO has extensive experience and a long track record in the social field, as well as specialised training in community mental health.
