"COINCIDIM" Programme: social inclusion of women with drug addictionwho are victims of gender violence (Barcelona)
The “COINCIDIM” project offers specialised group therapy for these groups of women, so that they can identify the structural, contextual and social factors that trigger their drug use. Once these have been identified, it is hoped that they will be able to help each other and be helped in finding alternative strategies to cope with their problem. These groups also enable therapeutic alliances to be established between the women in treatment, which is closely linked to a lower likelihood of relapse.
These groups are held in the Barcelona metropolitan area and are open to women from various resources of the Fundación Salud y Comunidad Therapeutic Circuit of centres (reintegration flats and/or day centre).
The aim is to offer a safe space, outside their usual reference resources and exclusively for women who use drugs. It facilitates empowerment and mutual support among women, enabling them to increase their personal autonomy and raising awareness of violence and abuse problems in order to reduce the likelihood of future relapse.
Other objectives of this project are to raise awareness of gender violence, its causes and dynamics, in order to reduce the risk of suffering it, as well as to foster improved self-esteem among the participating women and promote their autonomy. The groups are held weekly at the “Centro de Día Crisàlide” in Barcelona.
The programme is funded by the Department of Labour, Social Affairs and Families of the Generalitat de Catalunya through the Call for Support for Projects of Organisations (COSPE), under the grant line for programmes for the prevention of, support in and fight against gender violence, and for activities to combat gender violence funded by the State Pact against Gender Violence.
