Sant Eloi Supported Housingfor People with Mental Disorders (Barcelona)
This project is carried out in collaboration with Fundación Hábitat 3. The programme aims to offer a flexible and as normalised as possible alternative in terms of housing and support. In addition to providing housing (at reduced cost), support is offered in activities of daily living. This fosters an independent life project in a normalised community environment.
The project is aimed at people with a mental health diagnosis who have social and family difficulties and are in a situation of insecure housing. This makes them particularly vulnerable in relation to their mental health diagnosis and hinders their independent social development in the community.
The programme has a team of professionals who provide support and supervision tailored to the different needs of each household and each person, facilitating their integration and participation in the community.
The working methodology is based on the «Housing First» model, which is applied in the city of Barcelona. Establishing a home is an opportunity to improve the person’s well-being and their physical and mental health, and to bring about a qualitative improvement in their well-being.
Objectives:
- To support the person’s independent life project.
- To promote community participation and the defence of the rights of our service users as tenants.
- To prevent or avoid situations of vulnerability or inequality.
