Specialised Intervention Service (SIE)in Mataró and the Maresme region
The Specialised Intervention Service for women in situations of gender violence and for their sons and daughters in Mataró and the Maresme region is a public service of the Departamento de Igualdad y Feminismos de la Generalitat de Cataluña, managed by FSC since December 2014, which offers comprehensive care and resources for the recovery process of women who have suffered or are suffering situations of gender violence, as well as for their daughters and sons.
The fundamental objective of the centre is to offer information, care and recovery from a comprehensive perspective, in order to provide care and resources in the recovery process for both women and the children and adolescents in their care. The service also promotes prevention, awareness-raising and community involvement in tackling this major social problem.
Main beneficiaries of the intervention:
- Women aged over 18 (or minors with authorisation) living in the area covered by the service who are experiencing or have experienced any form of gender violence, without discrimination on the grounds of age, physical and mental health, disability, legal status, sexual orientation and/or origin.
- Children and adolescents who are experiencing or have experienced situations of gender violence. They are mainly the sons and daughters of the women assisted by the service, although the sons and daughters of women who have died as a result of violence at the hands of the aggressor will also be assisted.
Other beneficiaries
- Relatives and the woman's close emotional circle who are affected by the situation of violence (except the aggressor or persons close to them) or who are relevant to the intervention and to facilitating the recovery process itself, of both the woman and the children, following assessment by the service's professional team. This type of intervention will always be occasional and subject to the prior consent and request of the service user.
- Professionals from community services and resources, as well as associations and the general public within the SIE's area of reference, through interventions aimed at raising awareness of, preventing and making visible gender violence in the community.
