FSC, in a consortium with Grupo Lagunduz, manages the Las Encartaciones Home Help Service aimed at providing ongoing care to older people with needs relating to personal autonomy.

This home help service (SAD), which serves the Biscay municipalities of Artzentales, Karrantza Harana, Galdames, Gordexola, Güeñes, Lanestosa, Sopuerta, Turtzioz and Zalla, supports an average of 125 service users per month and employs 20 home care assistants.

This public, multipurpose, community-based service is aimed at families and/or individuals who are dependent or at risk of dependency and who have difficulty carrying out the activities of daily living on their own. Its aim is to promote the personal autonomy of service users in their own homes through an individualised programme of a preventive, continuous-care and/or rehabilitative nature.

The actions included in this SAD comprise:

• Domestic support (meal preparation, dressing, shopping, cleaning, home maintenance…).
• Personal care (personal hygiene and grooming, help with mobility, support with basic activities such as eating, administering medication…).
• Complementary actions (accompaniment for banking, administrative and health-related matters); socio-educational support; training in household skills…
