First Reception and Assessment Centre“Lázaro” (Guadalajara)

The project of the First Reception and Assessment Centre “Lázaro” is focused on first-reception and assessment residential care, which provides care and protection to minors who have no family or cannot live with it, giving them the attention and care they need for their personal development.

Specifically, residential care may be applied to minors for whom separation from their biological family is deemed necessary and for whom foster care is not possible or is inadvisable. Its general objectives are:

  1. To provide emergency reception to minors who are in a situation of abandonment, social risk or temporary custody.
  2. To carry out an individualised assessment of each case, based on the needs of the minor and an analysis of their personal situation and social and family environment. This is done in coordination with the Minors Team and, through it, with the Social Services of the locality where the minor resides.

The team that runs this resource consists of 17 professionals and, under a contract with the Government of Castilla-La Mancha, it cares for 15 minors, providing them with first reception and an evaluation and assessment of their situation as a step prior, where appropriate, to their referral to another centre.
