DAE Programme: intervention with people with drug addictionat Ponent Prison (Lleida)[Finalizado en 2025]
The Ponent Specialised Drug Addiction Care Department (DAE) is a service managed by Fundación Salud y Comunidad since 2005. It was formally established that same year at the request of the Secretaria de Serveis Penitenciaris, Rehabilitació i Justícia Juvenil de la Generalitat de Catalunya, and is located in module 7 of Ponent Prison, with a capacity of 180 places.
The objectives of the DAE are:
- To raise awareness of the relationship of dependence on toxic substances.
- To reduce the harm resulting from drug use and dependence.
- To achieve a lifestyle away from the world of drugs and crime.
- To promote the acquisition of healthy habits that encourage health care.
- To achieve better adaptation to the social, family and personal environment.
- To minimise the effects of institutionalisation resulting from time spent in prison.
An interdisciplinary, committed and dynamic team, made up of professionals from the prison, the Social Services Section for the criminal justice system in Lleida and Fundación Salud y Comunidad is responsible for guiding and supporting the people assisted throughout their rehabilitation and reintegration process.
