Espacio Ariadna. Residential treatment service for womenexperiencing gender violence and addictions, and their children (Barcelona)
In 2013, the “Espacio Ariadna. Residential treatment service for women experiencing gender violence and addictions, and their children” was created as an initiative to respond to the residential treatment needs identified as a result of the intersection of the problems of gender violence and addictions among women and their children.
Espai Ariadna provides comprehensive care to women, alone or with their children, who need a comprehensive intervention setting in which their situation of gender violence and drug addiction can be addressed in a safe environment.
The service has an agreement with Barcelona City Council and receives support from the Generalitat de Catalunya.
Objectives:
- To foster awareness and motivation for change.
- To provide the necessary tools and support the comprehensive recovery of the women assisted from a specialised professional perspective.
- To provide care to children and adolescents, making them visible as individuals in their own right.
- To become a service that connects the different care networks.
Target population:
Women on their own (or with their children) who are currently experiencing violence, have experienced violence in the past, are actively using drugs, or have a history of drug use.
