Prevention workshops and plansfor municipalities and schools
Fundación Salud y Comunidad offers a range of activities and training workshops to be carried out in educational settings, secondary schools, training centres and other leisure spaces for adolescents and young people.
The common thread running through all the proposals is the aim to promote healthy lifestyles and habits through useful, verified information, preventing the most common risk behaviours among young people and adolescents, such as drug use, abuse or misuse of new technologies (mobile phones, tablets, video games and other screens), unsafe emotional or sexual relationships, unhealthy eating, etc.
In addition, there are also workshops on preventing Abusive Relationships, such as “Els Paranys de l’amor”, a training service for the prevention of abusive relationships between partners in secondary schools and other training and leisure centres for adolescents and young people, owned by the Barcelona City Council.
There are also some activities that address the shaping of personal identity, such as those that work on gender issues, while others seek to foster personal maturity, such as the workshop on social skills and emotional well-being or the one on abusive relationships. The latter are particularly important, as they are the prelude or prerequisite for sound personal development in the face of situations we want to prevent later on, such as misuse of new technologies, gender violence or bullying.
In other words, if these situations are to be prevented, it is highly advisable to have worked beforehand on social skills and the development of self-esteem and autonomy, as well as other tools that help people become better and happier.
In addition, the following prevention plans and protocols have recently been drawn up: the Sant Pere de Ribes Drugs Plan (Garraf county, Barcelona), the Protocol for the detection of and intervention in drug use of Sant Pol de Mar (Maresme county, Barcelona) through the Barcelona Provincial Council and the Formentera Drugs and Screens Plan (Balearic Islands). Currently under development are the Drugs and Screens Plan of the Consell Comarcal de l’Anoia and the Ibiza Municipal Addictions Plan.
Therefore, the main group targeted by the activities is young people, but to effectively achieve the goal of being skilled and trained it is also key to work with the professionals who are in contact with young people and their families, thus offering support from three different sources: specialised educators, tutors and teachers during the school year, and the family at home throughout the year.
