General Care Home “Matilde Salvador i Segarra”, in Castellón

The “Matilde Salvador i Segarra” General Care Home is located in the city of Castellón and has capacity for 6 girls and adolescents aged 6 to 17, although its users are usually adolescent girls in the process of learning to live independently. The administration that owns this Home is the Generalitat Valenciana, specifically the Vicepresidencia y Conselleria de Igualdad y Políticas Inclusivas, and within it, coordination and supervision for the day-to-day running of the Home are carried out with the Territorial Directorate of Castellón.

The main objective of this Home is to provide the care and protection necessary to ensure the integrity and proper development of the minor, as well as the training needed to strengthen their individual process, so that they can overcome their personal, social and family difficulties and recover the personal resources to relate to themselves, to their reference socialisation groups and to the community”.

The Home seeks to guarantee a context of continuous care and protection for children and adolescents (NNA) under custody and/or guardianship who are deprived of a suitable family environment. In this way, they are given access to an educational environment with psychosocial care that responds to their needs, while their competences are developed. In short, the intervention aims to foster their holistic and community development. In this context, the roles of the Educator and the Tutor are very important in getting them involved in the different activities. Based on a comprehensive, individualised and restorative intervention, the methodology builds on their potential and needs, is essentially participatory and adapted to the needs of each person, and is based on the design of a programme that guarantees their personal development (physical, cognitive, emotional, community and relational), in a comprehensive way, in harmony with an affective environment and avoiding uprooting.

To carry out these tasks, there is a large team of professionals, including a coordinator, psychologist, social worker, social educators, social integration workers and general services assistants.
