¿Caminas? Support Programmetowards the social and labour inclusion of women in situations of prostitution (Castellón)
Through ¿Caminas? support is provided along comprehensive social and labour inclusion pathways to women aged 18 and over in situations of prostitution and/or victims of trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation. Women can access the service directly or be referred by other services and centres.
Its objectives are to develop individual skills and provide group support to the participating women through social, employment and training guidance.
The overall situation of these women, and their high exposure to risk factors, calls for urgent action in the area of labour inclusion to facilitate their full social inclusion. It is a project focused on this problem, with a view to eradicating the social exclusion of this group. The service adapts its methodology, schedules and offer to the needs of the women it serves.
Among other things, Spanish language courses, basic computer courses, retail courses, and courses on social and employment skills and gender training are offered. In addition, to facilitate labour inclusion, the project seeks to identify all the sectors of activity that generate jobs in the local business community. In this regard, employment prospecting is carried out among companies willing to hire the women participating in the programme who are actively seeking employment.
This service began operating in 2020, thanks to the support of the Conselleria d’Igualtat i Polítiques Inclusives. This action is co-funded by the European Union through the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) Programme of the Valencian Community 2021-2027. It also has the collaboration of the Ajuntament de Castelló and Caixabank – Fundació Caixa Castelló.
