Psychological counsellingwith a gender perspective for women

This is an in-person psychological care and counselling service for women, especially in situations of gender violence, which provides information on other public and private resources in the women’s care network and facilitates referral in those cases where appropriate. The service is also responsible for compiling statistical data. It is owned by the Institut Català de les Dones (ICD) of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

The impact of gender violence on women who are experiencing or have experienced it requires specialised psychological intervention that provides counselling and guidance on all aspects of the personal and social structure of the women supported.

This psychological care must aim to strengthen women’s abilities to cope with what they have experienced, seeking to repair the harm caused by gender violence and facilitating access to other resources in the women’s care network. Incorporating the gender perspective into psychological counselling for women is also essential for the Institut Català de les Dones.
