Yécora Residential Homeand Day Centre

The Residencia Yécora is a care service for older people managed, as its own centre, by Fundación Salud y Comunidad in consortium with the Asociación Lagunduz.

The centre has a built area of 1,850 m² and 36 beds, distributed in double and single rooms, as well as 10 day-care places. Located in the historical territory of Álava, close to the town of Laguardia, it lies in a border area between several regions, barely 15 minutes from the city of Logroño and a similar travel time from the town of Viana, in Navarre. It is set in a small, peaceful farming village at the heart of a large wine-growing area, on top of a hill overlooking a wide landscape of vineyards dominated by several imposing nearby mountains.

The centre has a family respite service, with the possibility of temporary stays, and family care programmes. It has its own kitchen and all kinds of services: medical and psychosocial care, leisure activities, a psychostimulation and rehabilitation room, laundry, cleaning, hairdressing and podiatry.

The general objective of this service is to try to achieve the highest possible quality of life for service users so that:

• They can manage on their own in as many activities of daily living as possible.
• The progression of their dependency can be slowed down, despite the different conditions they may have.
• Their personal self-esteem, as well as appropriate family and social interaction, can be maintained and/or improved.

For this reason, from the very beginning of our management, this facility has been provided with more technical and human resources than it had until then. These include a psychostimulation room and mobility vehicles, as well as the addition of a psychologist and a technical supervisor.
